Formulations for Specialty Mixes

Casetech have applied years of horticultural research to develop growing media specially designed to meet the needs of specific commercially grown plant species. We currently offer mixes for ...

Rose Mix

Developed specifically for roses, this mix has a pH of approximately 5.4 and an EC of approx 1.2, a given AFP and particle structure that will allow your roses to remain productive in this media for up to five years.

It will reduce your water and fertiliser requirements by it's improved Water Holding Capacity (WHC) and excellent Cationic Exhange Capacity.

It is a hygienically clean growing media that is free from soil borne pests and diseases and has little risk of introducing contamination into your growing environment.

Lisianthus Mix

Lisianthus are a particularly sensitive crop. The choice of coir for this crop is imperative. Although lisianthus enjoy water as a seedling, they are naturally a desert plant and will not tolerate wet feet.

Therefore your choice of growing media in terms of it's AFP and WHC is critical and should be free draining and preferably with a pH of approximately 6.8 and a low EC.

The right coir mix will deliver you a second and third pick, with the second pick equal or better than the first.

Gerbera mix

Castech Australia is the leading manufacturer of gerbera growing media in Australia and has set the standard for coir based growing media. Not unlike lisianthus, gerberas are vulnerable to wet feet, and water management with this crop is important.

.We often use bio-innoculants to protect and encourage root development in the initial plantings. Changing from other media to a Casetech formula will produce remarkable results.

A gerbera mix should be open with good AFP and run a pH of approximately 5.6 and a low EC.

Orchid Mix

Orchids are an epiphytic plant species and naturally grow well on decaying plant matter, and are a member of the family orchidaceae.

Over 60 species are found throughout the tropical rainforests of South East Asia.

They prefer an extremely open chunky "nugget" type media and perform well in coconut coir husk chips.

Orchids should be watered sparingly and enjoy a sheltered position with filtered light.

Speedling Mix

Our Speedling mix is second to none. It has been developed especially for the vegetable seedling market. It is disease free and offers good air filled porosity so it drains freely whilst holding and using less water than most other mixes. It will not dry out readily and will not turn hydrophobic. It is the perfect carrier for bio inoculants that encourage and supports root growth in your seedling.

Plug Mix

Casetech Australia has developed a high quality plug mix suitable for all automated filling systems. We have taken the care to ensure that the mix runs and fills freely into a standard 512 plug tray. It is essential that any material or formula added to plug mix be mixed thoroughly and evenly throughout the mix providing the best possible structure. Therefore we use only the best materials and mixing equipment to achieve the quality our customers have come to expect. We are also able to vary the structure, NPK and trace elements to suit varying growing, climatic and seasonal conditions.

Tube Stock Mix

Tube stock mixes need to be free draining and at the same time not only able to hold moisture but to deliver it to the plants. Our tube stock mix allows the plant to easily extract the moisture it needs whilst holding it in the particle and not just around it as many other conventional mixes do. It requires less watering than many other tube mixes and we encourage our customers to not just look at the top of the tube but observe the cutting prior to watering.

Propagation Mix

We have developed a high quality product that has been especially designed for propagation. The structure of the mix has been developed to encourage fast establishment of the roots, by eradicating any water table in the substrate.

This is a complete new technology which we will be launching in the coming months and offers substantial benefits for propagation.

Tomato Mix

We have developed a high quality grow bag that has been especially designed for tomatoes. The structure of the grow bag has been developed to encourage fast establishment of the seedling, eradicating any water table in the bag and improving the cat-ion exchange and longevity of the structure of the media in the bag.

Cucumber Mix

Cucumbers grow exceptionally well in our coir growing media. If you are a bag grower we offer an easy change to our coir “grow pot” (bag) that will fit your existing system and deliver you superior results.

Capsicum Mix

There has probably never been a better growing media for this crop than our coir grow bags. It is easy to manage, comes into the system clean and free of disease and can return exceptional yields. We have taken great care in selecting only the best coir materials to ensure better and longer performance.
