Standard coir is traditionally how this product is sold. Most coir
producers make a standard block as a commodity product. Coir as
a growing media should not be treated as a commodity product.
Standard blocks are excellent for mixing at a rate of 10-15% in
potting mixes (with for example bark) or blending as a conditioner
for soils or an amendment.
It should not be used as a stand-alone growing media. It's structure
varies and is rarely consistent and therefore poses a problem for
fertigation and can promote root disease due to variation in the
amount of fine grade material.
